This is a brand new exciting Cloud Ops Manager role for a Leading UK Charity The role is pivotal for the ongoing operations, management and maintenance of our Microsoft Cloud estate encompassing Azure and M365 services. You will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, security and cost optimisation. Joining our dynamic IT Operations team, you will collaborate closely with project managers, product owners, delivery squads and other stakeholders to support and enhance our growing Azure environment Implementing continuous improvements to our guardrails and policies to deliver stable, resilient and secure cloud solutions.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Cloud Operations team.
  • Define and implement a cloud strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Establish policies, standards, and best practices for Azure governance, security, and compliance.
  • Azure Infrastructure & Operations
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of Azure infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Optimize Azure resources for performance, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Collaborate with vendors and partners to evaluate and integrate third-party cloud solutions.
  • Automate provisioning, deployment, and monitoring using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform.
  • Design and implement security controls covering identity & access management (IAM), network security, encryption, and threat detection.
  • Ensure compliance with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Benchmarks, Cyber Essentials, and OWASP.
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with engineering, development, and digital teams to align cloud services with business needs.
  • Provide technical guidance on Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and hybrid IT environments.
  • Communicate platform performance and key metrics to stakeholders.
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and proactive issue resolution.
  • Develop and enforce service level agreements (SLAs) and ITIL-based support processes.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Solutions Architect).
  • Extensive experience managing Azure environments for 1000+ users in hybrid IT settings.
  • Strong expertise in Azure services (VMs, Entra ID, Networking, DevOps, M365, DR).
  • Proven experience in cloud security, compliance, and risk management.
  • Hands-on experience with automation, scripting, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
