Job Overview:
My client is seeking a highly organised and experienced Site Manager to oversee the refurbishment of a school in Surrey. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for managing the day-to-day site operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all on-site activities and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour.
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, especially in a live school environment.
- Coordinate with the project manager, client representatives, and local authorities.
- Monitor project progress and report regularly on status, risks, and issues.
- Manage site logistics, deliveries, and storage of materials.
- Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries, permits, and H&S documentation.
- Ensure minimal disruption to school operations and maintain a secure and clean site.
- Organise and chair regular site meetings with contractors and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on refurbishment or construction projects, ideally within the education sector.
- Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
- CSCS card (Black or White).
- First Aid certification.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one).
- Strong knowledge of health & safety, CDM regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple trades in a live environment.
Desirable:
- Experience working on school refurbishments or projects in sensitive environments.
- Asbestos Awareness certification.
- Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
