Quantum Scholars is working with an secondary school in Surrey who are looking for a Geography Teacher for a permanent, full-time position, starting in September 2025. Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Delivery: Teach Geography to Key Stages 3 and 4 students (with potential to teach Key Stage 5) in line with the school's curriculum. Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that inspire and challenge students.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student progress through both formative and summative assessments. Provide constructive feedback to students to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Classroom Management: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel supported and motivated to learn. Use effective strategies for behavior management to ensure that lessons run smoothly.
  • Collaboration and Professional Development: Work closely with the Geography department and wider school staff to develop and improve curriculum resources and teaching practices. Engage in ongoing professional development and training to stay up-to-date with the latest teaching methods and geographical trends.
  • Pastoral Care and Student Support: Support students' academic, emotional, and social development. Maintain an open line of communication with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and welfare.
  • Extracurricular Involvement: Contribute to extracurricular activities related to Geography, such as field trips, clubs, or projects that enrich students' learning experiences.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications: A degree in Geography (or a closely related field). You must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience: While prior teaching experience is desirable, it is not essential. We welcome applications from newly qualified teachers (NQTs) and those with more experience in the classroom.
  • Subject Expertise: A strong understanding of the Geography curriculum, including knowledge of geographical concepts, fieldwork, and current global issues.
  • Passion for Teaching: A genuine passion for Geography and a commitment to helping students achieve their best. You should be able to inspire students to develop a deep interest in the subject.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Commitment to Inclusion: An understanding of how to support a diverse range of learners and a commitment to promoting equal opportunities for all students.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to effectively manage lesson planning, grading, and extracurricular activities.
