The school caters to students aged 6-16 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), moderate to severe learning needs, and associated challenges. The school aims to provide a tailored, specialist approach to support each student's unique requirements.

The Opportunity:

The school are looking for dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join their growing team. You'll work closely with the Education Team to support the smooth operation of this brand-new school. This is a unique chance to shape the future of a new SEN school, contribute to its development, and be a key part of its growth from the start.

Job Summary:

As an HLTA, you will support the Class Teacher in the day-to-day management of the class and deliver whole class, group, and individual lessons as needed. In the teacher's absence, you will deputize and take responsibility for all areas, including:

  • Pupil Welfare and Safeguarding
  • Supporting Teaching and Learning
  • Monitoring Pupil Progress and Attainment
  • Supporting and mentoring Teaching Assistants

Qualifications:

  • HLTA Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification, or evidence of equivalent skills
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (grade C/4 or above)

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly SLD/ASD
  • Understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures
  • Experience managing a range of behaviours, including those that challenge
  • Prior experience working in an educational setting, preferably in a multi-cultural, inclusive environment
