Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with THRIVE/ELSA
  • Location: Effingham, Surrey
  • Salary: £27,713 - £30,250 dependent on qualifications
  • Job Type: Full-time, Term Time only
  • Hours: 40 hours per week

Reed Education are supporting a wonderful SEN Secondary School in Effingham, and we are seeking a talented Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with THRIVE/ELSA expertise. This role focuses on delivering interventions around emotional literacy and mental wellbeing to our autistic students aged 11-16, who may also have associated behavioural and communication difficulties.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Pupil Welfare and Safeguarding:
    • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
    • Provide feedback on pupil behaviour, relationships, and attitudes.
    • Monitor pupils’ conduct and behaviour, intervening in complex issues and maintaining records as necessary.
  • Delivering Interventions:
    • Plan and deliver individualised support programmes to develop pupils’ emotional literacy, including managing stress, anxiety, and developing resilience skills.
  • Supporting Teaching and Learning:
    • Assist in the delivery of therapeutic provisions and contribute to the school’s broad and creative curriculum.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent.
  • ELSA/THRIVE qualification is desirable, or willingness to achieve within the first 2 years in post.
  • Level 5 qualification related to the subject area is desirable.
  • Mental health first aid training is desirable.
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification, or demonstrate equivalent skill level.
