Reed Education are representing a wonderful SEN School in Effingham, and we are on the lookout for a Family Support Officer. This role is crucial in supporting families of students aged 11 to 16 years with ASD and other associated difficulties. You will work closely with our DSL/Pastoral lead and the therapy team to make a significant impact on our students’ lives.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Act as a role model and support the development of supportive relationships between home and school.
  • Coordinate the effective implementation of the Attendance Policy.
  • Monitor and report on pupils out of school and those with attendance concerns.
  • Liaise with parents/carers who are currently open to family support and early help to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach.
  • Provide appropriate training to staff through CPD.
  • Offer therapeutic support to pupils struggling to engage in class-based learning or school, aiming for re-engagement in class.
  • Track attendance and provide data for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Governors.
  • Ensure all relevant monitoring, recording, and reporting has been completed, to ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and legislation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent.
  • A relevant professional qualification or the ability to gain Level 3 in working with children and young people.
  • Level 3 in working with children and young people is highly desirable.
  • Qualifications in psychology or social care would be desirable.
