Role Overview:Children's Assessment Social Workers at Surrey County Council play a pivotal role in safeguarding and enhancing the well-being of children and young people. This position involves conducting thorough assessments to evaluate the needs and risks faced by children and families, collaborating with multi-agency professionals, and implementing tailored intervention plans to ensure positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct detailed evaluations of children and families, analysing physical, emotional, and social needs, and identifying potential risks or concerns.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare providers, educators, law enforcement, and other agencies to gather information and develop comprehensive care plans.
  • Intervention Planning: Develop and implement practical plans to support children and families, including arranging support services, foster care placements, or initiating legal interventions when necessary.
  • Family Support: Provide counseling, advocacy, and resource navigation to families to promote positive changes and resilience.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track progress of intervention plans, adjust strategies as needed, and maintain thorough records in compliance with legal and organisational standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A recognised Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England as a qualified social worker.
  • A minimum of Three Years Permenant Experience within an English Local Authority. (DfE PQE)
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in family support services, with a strong focus on assessment.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in identifying risks and creating effective intervention strategies.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ethics and Integrity: A strong commitment to professional standards and ethical practice.
