Local Authority Designated Officer, Quality Practice Service Pertemps are recruiting for a qualified and experienced Local Authority Designated Officer to join the Quality and Performance Service.Duties:
  • Provide advice and guidance to employers, other agencies and voluntary organisations in Surrey regarding concerns or allegations against those working or volunteering with children and young people; allegations management and safe employment in accordance with relevant procedures and in a timely manner to maximise the safety and welfare of children and young people.
  • Chair child protection strategy meetings regarding allegations made against staff, carers and volunteers, liaising with the police and other agencies as necessary, and ensuring that the management of information regarding allegations is kept up to date.
  • Immediately advise the LADO/Partnership Safeguarding Coordinator and in their absence, relevant senior managers, as necessary, about potentially high profile situations and significant safeguarding matters that may either compromise a child’s safety, or raise other areas of concern including policy development needs and other professional issues that should reasonably be brought to management attention.
  • Work with the LADO/Partnership Safeguarding Coordinator, Surrey’s Safeguarding Children Board (SSCB), and others regarding the development of inter-agency performance management processes, standards and performance indicators.
  • Contribute to the delivery of child protection training to staff and volunteers across the children's workforce in Surrey.
  • Analyse performance management information and support the LADO/Partnership Safeguarding Coordinator to present reports to senior management.
Requirements:
  • Professional social work qualification and registered with the HCPC.
  • Knowledge and experience of legislation/practice/policy procedures/regulations guidance in relation to child protection.
  • Previous LADO experience
