We are seeking a highly experienced and enthusiastic Senior Systems Engineer to take the lead on a major project. In this senior role, you will be responsible for the delivery of a complex system that involves specialist sensors, electronics, and signal processing firmware/software.

What You'll Do:
  • Act as the Systems Design Authority for one or more projects, supporting the Project Manager and providing technical authority throughout.

  • Oversee system design and development activities, ensuring rigorous test procedures are in place at the equipment, system, and software levels.

  • Ensure all design and technical requirements are met throughout the entire lifecycle from design through integration and customer acceptance.

  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including test plans, specifications, and procedures.

  • Support the Project Manager with project planning, risk, and opportunity management.

  • Review and approve technical documents, participate in design reviews, and ensure customer acceptance.

  • Support the development of system enhancements and roadmaps for future upgrades.

  • Contribute to business development efforts by identifying opportunities and preparing technical proposals.

What You'll Need:
  • Proven track record in delivering complex system design, implementation, test, and integration in the defence (or highly regulated) domain.

  • Experience across the full system life cycle, including design, development, testing, integration, and acceptance.

  • Strong technical knowledge in sonar systems development, particularly designing and implementing software for sonar systems.

  • Solid understanding of signal processing and modern software design techniques, for example C++, Java, C#.

  • Ability to manage, motivate, and develop engineering teams to meet targets and quality standards.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers.

  • Experience in bid & proposal development and architecting technical solutions.

  • Knowledge of complex electronics and firmware design principles.

  • Familiarity with agile or spiral development cycles and experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.

  • A BSc/BEng Degree in Engineering, Maths, or Science (or equivalent experience).

  • Sole UK National with the ability to attain DV or SC UK security clearance.

  • Full UK driving licence.
