Learning Support Teacher - KS3/KS4

Location: Surrey

Start Date: September 2025

Contract: Permanent - Full time or part time (4 days can be considered)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and aligned with MPS

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and forward-thinking Learning Support Teacher to join a high-achieving secondary school in Surrey. This well-resourced and supportive school is looking for a skilled professional to provide targeted support to pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) and other SEN across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The school boasts a strong inclusion ethos and is committed to helping every child achieve their potential. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO and wider Progress Department to provide high-quality, tailored learning support to students, both in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialist literacy and/or numeracy interventions to students with SpLD or other SEN
  • Create and maintain Individual Education Plans (IEPs) with measurable, curriculum-linked targets
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons using varied teaching strategies to support progress
  • Conduct regular assessments in reading, spelling, or maths and track student progress
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of lessons, targets, and assessments
  • Liaise effectively with class teachers and parents to support student development
  • Contribute actively to department meetings and stay up to date with best practice in SEN

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Level 5 or Level 7 qualification in SpLD (e.g. Dyslexia) OR proven experience supporting smaller groups of pupils in Maths and English in previous roles
  • A collaborative and proactive attitude, with the ability to liaise across departments
  • Excellent organisational skills, with a commitment to maintaining accurate records and planning
  • Experience working in a secondary setting with diverse learning needs
