About The school

This school is a nurturing and inclusive SEND setting, dedicated to supporting the individual needs of every child. We are looking for someone who's happy to work in a homely environment with lots of support and guidance from other members in the team. Their dedicated SEN team is seeking a compassionate and experienced teacher to lead a class of children with Down syndrome in their primary group for three months with the view of it potentially being the full year.

The Role:
We are looking for a passionate SEN teacher to inspire and support a small group of primary-aged children with Down syndrome. You will work closely with a team of teaching assistants, therapists, and parents to create an engaging, inclusive, and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver differentiated lessons aligned with individual education plans (IEPs).
Foster the social, emotional, and academic development of children with Down syndrome.
Implement creative and engaging teaching strategies tailored to each child's abilities.
Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and families to ensure holistic support.
Monitor and assess progress, adapting plans as necessary.
Promote a positive and inclusive classroom culture.

Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Experience working with children with Down syndrome or other learning disabilities.
Strong understanding of SEN strategies, particularly in early communication and developmental needs.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to teaching.
