Multi Skilled Engineer

gap personnel are pleased to present this opportunity for a motivated and adaptable Multi Skilled Engineer to join our multi award winning frozen fruit, smoothie & vegetable manufacturing company.

Hours: Full time – Permanent

Shifts: Mon – Fri: Current shifts: 5.30am-2pm / 1.30pm-10pm (rotating). Some working outside of these hours and on-call support may be required due to Production requirements.

Salary: £p.a (depending on experience)

Job Role: The Multi-Skilled Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food production facility. This position involves maintaining, repairing, and improving equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency and quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for both reactive and proactive maintenance tasks, contributing to a high-performing and safety-conscious work environment.You will be able to work across both Mechanical and Electrical disciplines.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Maintenance and Repair:

- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all production equipment to minimise downtime.

- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, carrying out repairs effectively.

- Ensure all equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines and industry best practices.

- Continuous Improvement:

- Identify areas for improvement within the production process and propose solutions to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

- Assist in the implementation of process improvement projects, including machinery upgrades and layout changes.

- Compliance and Safety:

- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety within the engineering team.

- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in all engineering activities.

- Documentation:

- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, including completed tasks, spare parts used, and any necessary follow-up actions.

- Utilise the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to log all maintenance activities and generate reports as needed.

- Team Collaboration:

- Work closely with production and quality teams to ensure engineering support is aligned with production goals.

- Provide training and support to junior engineers and apprentices as required.

Qualifications and Experience required:

Education:

- NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent.

- HNC/HND or higher in an engineering discipline is desirable.

Experience:

- Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Engineer

Skills:

· Have a good understanding of problem solving and modern lean manufacturing techniques.

· Have the ability to communicate and deal with colleagues at all levels, production floor, management and directors.

· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail with a hands-on approach.

· Excellent team player

· Pro-active, inquisitive, forward thinking and flexible attitude to work; as the role supports production, flexibility is required to support during weekend and bank holiday working.
