Faculty Management Accountant | Permanent | Hybrid | Education-based | Leeds | £39,355 - £51,039 | Full-timeAt Hays, we are working exclusively with a further/higher education institution who are looking for a Faculty Management Accountant to join their Faculty Finance Team on a permanent basis. This workplace is a dynamic and multifaceted financial environment where the pace is fast, and the challenges are complex. It offers a stimulating and rewarding role within a large and diverse faculty. Here, you'll be expected to work independently, managing tight deadlines while providing a professional and supportive finance partnering service to a wide array of stakeholders. This role is ideal for those who thrive in busy settings and are adept at navigating intricate financial landscapes. Your new role

  • Partnering with senior staff to provide efficient professional financial services and support across the faculty.
  • Supporting five-year plans and ensuring effective performance control.
  • Handling month/year-end accounts, budgeting, financial planning, and forecasts.
  • Monitoring financials against plans, investigating variances, and taking corrective action.
  • Liaising with budget holders, providing timely and accurate financial information.
  • Offering advice on financial matters and guiding colleagues on processes and regulations.
  • Leading/supporting funding streams and institution-wide initiatives.
  • Evaluating new initiatives for financial sustainability.
  • Coaching and developing team members, sharing knowledge, and enhancing service quality.
  • Providing guidance on financial processes, regulations, and best practices to staff.
  • Reporting and presenting to key stakeholders.

What you'll need to succeed

  • CA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA qualifications or to be qualified with substantial relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in Management Accounting.
  • Experience of influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Experience in producing and monitoring financial plans.
  • Skill in creating insightful management information.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Experience in staff supervision and development.
  • Desirable: experience in higher education and of using Power BI and SAP.
