Broster Buchanan is working in partnership with a leading not-for-profit organisation focused on providing social and affordable housing as they recruit a Financial Accountant to join them in driving significant improvements to their financial operations and reporting.Financial Accountant Location: Hybrid - West Yorkshire basedSalary: c£45,000 - £55,000 depending upon experience Permanent, or temporary or temporary to permanentWhere and who will you be working with?You'll be excited to use your financial skills and experience to contribute to this housing provider ensuring that our local community has a roof over their heads - a rewarding role! You'll be working closely with the Financial Controller and collaborating with internal departments and external stakeholders and you'll play a crucial role in maintaining financial accuracy and driving improvements in accounting processes.What will you be doing?As Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for:
  • Managing technical accounting for the organisation and leading responses to changes in business and accounting standards
  • Lead in the production of annual statutory reports for the group
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors, providing necessary information and support
  • Lead on VAT returns, including application and testing of partial exemption matters and assist with year-end tax returns
  • Assessing and advising on accounting policies and processes
  • Providing pragmatic accounting support for new initiatives and strategic projects
What will you need to offer?As a critical role within the finance team, it will require someone who has completed their full accounting qualification i.e. (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or CIMA) and additionally you'll have experience of most of the below areas (if you don't tick all of these boxes, please do still get in touch as there is scope for a conversation.)
  • Strong experience in statutory financial statements preparation
  • Excellent understanding of VAT, particularly partial exemption
  • Experience with FRS102 and the Housing SORP
  • A commitment to continuous improvement
