The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping, particularly within an SME, and be able to handle a high volume of transactions. This role requires someone who can manage all aspects of bookkeeping and hit the ground running.Key Responsibilities:
- VAT: Manage VAT returns and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Payroll: Handle the full end-to-end payroll process for 22 employees on a monthly basis.
- Monthly Reporting: Prepare debtor reports and management accounts.
- Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- QuickBooks: Utilise QuickBooks for bookkeeping tasks, demonstrating strong proficiency and leadership in its use.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Banking: Handle all banking activities, including deposits, withdrawals, and bank reconciliations.
- Expense Management: Track and manage company expenses, ensuring proper documentation and categorisation.
- Financial Statements: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Budgeting: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, providing insights and recommendations for cost control.
- Audit Preparation: Prepare and support the audit process by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and company policies.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in bookkeeping tasks.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably within an SME.
- Strong knowledge of VAT, payroll, and monthly reporting.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks.
- Excellent reconciliation skills.
- Ability to manage a high volume of transactions.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- No formal qualifications required, but significant experience is essential.
