Principal Primary Design Engineer
Location: The team are fleixible with this location being across their offices in the UK
Hours: 37.5 per week on a contract basis
Rate: Day rate (inside IR35)
We are seeking a Principal Primary HV Plant Design Engineer to join our Power T&D division. You will lead HV Primary Engineering design for substation projects up to 400kV and support the Design Delivery Managers in overseeing engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design team to meet customer requirements, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Approve design deliverables such as single line diagrams, layouts, and earthing calculations.
- Ensure designs adhere to Health & Safety regulations (CDM).
- Oversee technical direction and best practices for the engineering team.
- Support in the day-to-day running of design departments and manage team development.
Experience:
- Over 10 years in a design office environment, with senior-level experience in HV substation design.
- Knowledge of electrical power systems and HV substation equipment (e.g., transformers).
- TP137 / SR188 Contractor Design Assurance Engineer experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and BIM 360.
