Structural Engineer Position - Leeds Office


Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our expanding team in Leeds. This full-time, permanent position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects across various sectors, including commercial, retail, residential, industrial, and scientific.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct structural engineering assessments and inspections of both new and existing properties, utilizing steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
  • Serve as a technical lead on projects as required.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, including dilapidation reports and due diligence structural surveys.
  • Perform analysis and design using both hand calculations and software packages such as CSC Fastrak, Tekkla, Building Designer, TEDDS, CSI Safe, Robot, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Verify software outputs through hand calculations.
  • Maintain quality and consistency in technical outputs, including drawings, reports, and calculations.
  • Coordinate with design team members to deliver a cohesive design solution that meets client objectives.
  • Engage in projects of varying sizes and complexities, including offices, hotels, and large residential developments.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A degree in Structural Engineering.
  • 2 to 8+ years of post-graduation experience, with a minimum of 3 years recent experience in a UK-based consultancy.
  • Proven ability and confidence to secure new work.
  • Diverse experience with common construction forms, materials, and building types.
  • Chartered or near Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE).
  • Strong report writing, communication, and numerical skills.
  • Experience with listed and historical buildings is advantageous.
  • Proficient in using structural analysis and design software packages.
  • Experience with large projects such as offices, hotels, and housing developments.
  • Familiarity with Eurocodes and British Standards.
  • A full clean driving license.
  • A positive, reliable work ethic.
