Our client, a leader in the water sector, is currently seeking experienced Wastewater Design Engineers to join their growing team in Leeds or Preston on a contract basis. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, sustainable, and innovative wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure designs for major water companies as part of the AMP8 framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to the design of wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and sewerage networks
- Develop concept, outline, and detailed designs in compliance with client specifications and industry standards
- Conduct hydraulic modelling, process engineering assessments, and feasibility studies
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure designs meet project requirements
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and graduates
- Ensure designs comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Support the preparation of project proposals, reports, and documentation
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered or working towards Chartership with ICE, CIWEM, or IStructE (desirable)
- Experience in wastewater design within a consultancy or contractor environment
- Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, InfoWorks ICM, or similar
- Strong knowledge of UK water industry standards, including Sewers for Adoption and relevant British Standards
- Experience in hydraulic modelling and process engineering principles
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines
