Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary construction consultancy, is seeking an experienced Associate Director / Senior Consultant to provide expert commercial and contractual advice to clients in dispute resolution, delay analysis and commercial/contract management.

This individual will act as both Expert Witness and Expert Advisor, supporting clients through adjudication, arbitration, and dispute avoidance, as well as advising on NEC and JCT construction contracts. Additionally, they will provide coaching and training to clients on commercial, contractual, and time-related matters.

A key aspect of this role includes assisting clients in building claims, ensuring they have robust contractual and commercial positions when pursuing or defending claims.

Package:

  • Up to 80,000 basic salary

Associate Director/Senior Consultant

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as an Expert Witness and Expert Advisor, providing independent commercial and contractual analysis for clients.
  • Support clients in dispute resolution, including adjudication, arbitration, and litigation.
  • Prepare expert reports, witness statements, and forensic analysis of contractual claims.
  • Assist clients in avoiding disputes through proactive contract management and risk mitigation.
  • Provide strategic contractual and commercial advice on NEC and JCT contracts.
  • Assist clients in drafting, negotiating, and interpreting construction contracts.
  • Review and analyse claims related to delays, disruptions, and variations.
  • Support clients in contract administration, claims management, and commercial governance.
  • Assist clients in building claims, ensuring they have well-documented evidence and strong contractual positions.
  • Support clients in defending claims, mitigating financial and legal risks.
  • Prepare detailed quantum, delay, and disruption analysis to support claims.
  • Provide strategic advice on claim presentation and resolution tactics.
  • Deliver training and workshops to clients on NEC, JCT, and dispute resolution strategies.
  • Coach client teams on best practices in contract management, commercial awareness, and risk assessment.
  • Develop guidance documents and training materials for clients on complex contractual and legal matters.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, building strong client relationships.

Associate Director/Senior Consultant

Key Skills & Experience

  • Construction degree qualified, with a preference to Quantity Surveying
  • Fully conversant with NEC and JCT contracts, including dispute resolution procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of adjudication, arbitration, and construction law.
  • Strong leadership and client management skills, with the ability to train and mentor teams.
  • MRICS, MCIOB, or FCIArb accreditation.
  • Legal qualification or LLM in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution. (desirable)
  • Experience in forensic delay analysis and quantum assessment.
