Is an award-winning provider of Managed Service e-Learning Solutions with an international client base spanning 30+ countries. Their extensive offering includes integrated Learning Management Systems and bespoke & complex solutions. Encompassed by an intrinsic vision to improve workforces and empower learners, they aim to reduce L&D overheads by maintaining & managing LMS technical infrastructures, continuously developing innovative functionality, and regular performance monitoring to ensure learners remain engaged, and businesses enjoy a return on their investment.

As a result of their ambitious growth plans they are currently undertaking an exciting project to build out their Senior Management team, and as such we are searching for a Sales Director to join them.

THE CANDIDATE & ROLE:

Our ideal candidate will be an engaging, positive, and inspiring Sales Professional with extensive experience within an individual contributor / department leader role. As a "player-manager" you will be responsible for leading the entire sales function, managing & developing the team, and taking accountability for the department targets, alongside your own revenue generating activities. You will work closely with the founders of the business to develop their existing sales strategy and provide input to drive the business forward to increase revenue, market share, and client base.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales & Individual Contribution:

  • Develop and maintain an excellent understanding of the business’ product/service offering to effectively propose relevant solutions to prospective & existing clients.
  • Manage full sales cycles from identifying new prospects to securing new projects, negotiating, bid/proposal writing, and closing deals within the Enterprise sector.
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with key clients, taking ownership of retaining and expanding each account.
  • Develop and implement a bid strategy and assist the sales & customer success team with bid writing within their pipeline where required.

Strategy:

  • Work closely with the Founders to develop the Sales strategy with a focus on driving business growth, profitability, and market share.
  • Develop and manage the sales budget, allocating and controlling expenses effectively.
  • Establish sales objectives, tracking/monitoring metrics, and team/individual targets to be communicated to the wider business.
  • Analyse sales processes and improve where necessary to maximise efficiency/productivity/profitability, and clearly communicate proposed changes to the team.
  • Implement, deliver, and continuously improve sales strategies.
  • Continuously monitor performance through accurate forecasting and projections from new and existing clients.
  • Regular reporting of sales quotas, achievements, and projections to be distributed to the senior leadership team and Founders.
  • Be a proactive member of the wider Senior Management Team, providing input on business strategies and other leadership initiatives.
  • Assist with the development of the product strategy, identifying product innovation opportunities to increase existing client base wallet share, and expansion into new target markets.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the customer journey post-close of sale, identifying process improvements and developments to increase customer satisfaction, retention, and maximise up-sells.

People & Department Leadership:

  • Take overall accountability of the Sales figure and department, leading from the front whilst consistently acting as an inspiring and credible leader.
  • Lead, coach and develop the sales team, driving a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous development.
  • Line management of the sales team, conducting regular 1-2-1’s, Appraisals, and PDPs to ensure each individual’s capabilities to grow within the business.
  • Analyse and report on the results of the team and use initiative to develop and implement strategies for improvements.
  • Act as the point of escalation within the team for internal and external matters.
  • Lead and manage the expansion of the team, working with recruitment partners and conduct interviews/assessments during hiring processes.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in a Sales Director role or similar.
  • Previous experience within EdTech, Learning & Development, SaaS, Technology Managed Service, or similar industry is essential.
  • Strategic & commercially minded, with experience in developing and implementing sales strategies with a focus on driving business revenue and profitability.
  • Analytical and logical mindset, with experience in monitoring and accurately reporting on sales figures.
  • Proven individual contributor sales experience, exceeding targets upwards of £1mil per annum, with deals from Enterprise clients.
  • A natural, inspiring, and approachable leader, with the ability to command respect whilst maintaining relatability.
  • UK resident with unrestricted right to work in the UK.
