School Caretaker

Monday to Friday (all year round).

40 hours per week – flexibility with hours essential.

The main duties are to carry out health & safety checks, portering, security, basic maintenance, cleaning and other general school duties.

I am working with several primary schools in Leeds and recruiting for caretaking / site staff on a full-time ongoing basis.  Flexibility with hours is essential and there could be some roles which are split shifts.  Some of the duties of the role are below:

  • Ensure the security of the school buildings ensuring everything is locked. unlocking, patrols and monitoring third party lettings.
  • General porter type duties including transportation of furniture, equipment, meals and materials.
  • Weekly checking of the fire alarms.
  • Responding to emergency situations, including fire evacuations.
  • Assisting contractors on site.
  • Emptying the kitchen and recycling bins.
  • To assist the cleaning team, using the correct materials & equipment.
  • Car parking duties at special school events which may be outside normal school hours.
  • To assist the groundsman in adverse weather conditions.
  • Setting up and dismantling exam halls, assemblies, stage sets etc.
  • To assist with weekly, monthly, termly health & safety checks such as: Legionella, Fire alarm testing, emergency lighting, visual checks of the building etc.

All candidates must pass an enhanced DBS check.  It would be advantageous if you were on the update service.
