Reed Scientific is recruiting for a Development Chemist for a leading manufacturer of additives, that add value to a variety of end-use products, like coatings, adhesives, and rubber. The Development Chemist will manage development projects from initial concept to final approval and production. In this role the Development Chemist will need to work closely with marketing, suppliers and production teams. There will be opportunities for career development 

Main Responsibilities

  • Assisting in developing new products.
  • Planning your own experiments and project work.
  • Scaling up your formulations.
  • Supervising production batches.
  • Screening new raw materials from suppliers and testing them in existing formulations.
  • Liaising with sales and production teams regarding any formulation changes or requirements.
  • Producing weekly reports
  • Ordering laboratory consumables.
  • Quality control.

Qualifications, skills and experience required

  • Degree qualified in Chemistry
  • Knowledge of specifications, regulations and technical writing would be an advantage
  • Previous industry experience is essential 
  • Is proactive, self driven
  • Is determined and has perseverance.
  • Is good at problem solving.
  • Has good attention to detail with a methodical and logical approach.
  • Can work on multiple projects and issues simultaneously.
