Role Overview
Opportunity to join a leading UK Insurance business as they look to expand their Data Protection team with the addition of a Data Protection Specialist. The role holder will be responsible for the continual improvement of Data Protection policy, standards & procedures, both for the team and of the wider business to ensure Privacy by Design. This role requires a deep understanding of data protection laws, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
With the firm’s head office located close to Manchester and Yorkshire, the business offer a very flexible hybrid working policy with the office requirement being 1 day every month making the role almost fully remote / home based. Additional office days can be taken if you would prefer. The role will report directly to the firms DPO, with the role allowing the successful candidate to be the succession plan for the DPO on a longer-term basis.
Role responsibilities.
- Support the DPO developing, implementing, and maintain data protection policy & procedures.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with data protection policy & procedures.
- Provide advice and guidance to the business on UKGDPR.
- Provide Data Protection support to key functions such as Internal & External Audits, Third Party Management and Compliance.
- Provide guidance and training to employees on data protection.
- Lead on engagement activities.
- Investigate and respond to data protection breaches.
- Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessments, collaborating with InfoSec, Data Governance & Operational Resilience teams.
- Maintain key accountability artefacts such as records of data processing activities.
Personal Attributes & Experience
- Detailed experience in data protection, privacy, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of data protection regulations and best practices.
- Proven ability to analyse legislative requirements and translate into organisational practices, solutions and accessible material
- Data protection qualification
- Financial Services (FCA) experience
