We are seeking a dynamic and technically adept Business Development & Account Manager to drive both account growth and new business development across the North of the UK. This role is critical in expanding our market presence and securing new revenue streams in addition to managing a portfolio of existing accounts.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Generation:
- Lead strategic efforts to identify, engage, and convert new clients, driving market expansion in the North of the UK.
- Actively prospect, qualify, and develop new opportunities in sectors such as commercial, industrial, and public sector markets.
- Develop tailored proposals that highlight the value of our BMS and energy management solutions to new customers.
Account Growth & Development:
- Deepen relationships with existing clients, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring that we remain their preferred partner for advanced building solutions.
- Implement strategies to increase client retention and revenue per account.
Consultative Sales:
- Provide in-depth technical consultation to both new and existing clients.
- Offer expert guidance on BMS systems, energy monitoring, and integration protocols.
- Position yourself as a trusted advisor to guide clients toward optimized energy efficiency and system integration solutions.
Proposal & Quotation Management:
- Develop detailed technical quotations and proposals that reflect both the client's needs and our technical capabilities.
- Ensure proposals are commercially competitive while meeting all technical and operational specifications.
Pipeline Development & Management:
- Actively manage and expand the sales pipeline by identifying new business opportunities and nurturing prospects through the sales cycle.
- Use data-driven insights to prioritize high-potential leads and accelerate the sales process.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, technical support, and project management, to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Ensure that all stakeholders are aligned with the technical and commercial aspects of the client's requirements.
Advanced Sales Reporting & Forecasting:
- Track and report on key performance metrics, such as new business acquisition, account growth, pipeline health, and market penetration.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and contribute to regional business development strategies.
Complex Negotiation & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead high-level negotiations with new prospects and existing clients.
- Manage relationships with multiple stakeholders, including engineers, facilities managers, and senior executives, ensuring buy-in and long-term commitment to our solutions.
Required Expertise
Proven Business Development Experience:
- A strong track record of generating new business within technical, engineering, or energy-related industries.
- Experience in securing large-scale commercial or industrial contracts is a significant advantage.
BMS & Integration Expertise:
- Extensive knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and integration protocols.
- Familiarity with energy management solutions is essential.
- Experience with other communication protocols and standards will be considered a plus.
Electrical & Energy Systems Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of electrical systems and energy monitoring technologies.
- Familiarity with the challenges of integrating modern energy systems into legacy infrastructures is highly desirable.
Sales & Technical Acumen:
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical requirements into commercially viable solutions.
- Strong consultative selling skills are essential, particularly in guiding clients through the technical nuances of system integration.
High-Level Negotiation Skills:
- Proven experience in negotiating complex deals with a variety of stakeholders, from technical teams to executive leadership.
- Ability to close high-value contracts and manage multi-stakeholder negotiations is critical.
Data-Driven Approach:
- Strong analytical skills to interpret technical data, sales trends, and market opportunities.
- Experience using CRM and sales management tools to track pipeline progress and report on KPIs.
Travel Flexibility:
- Willingness to travel extensively across the North of the UK to manage client relationships and explore new business opportunities.
