Our client, a prominent consultancy in the civil engineering sector, is currently seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Leeds. This role would ideally suit a professional with experience in the field who is ready to lead projects and teams effectively across various geotechnical disciplines.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading geotechnical projects, from small to major projects, including managing technical teams of 3-6 people
  • Designing foundations and other geotechnical constructions
  • Providing technical expertise in various aspects such as Piles in Chalk and Glacial Till, offshore design with a preference for windfarm and port projects, railway, depot and station design
  • Managing geotechnical aspects of embankments, cuttings, and ground treatment/improvement projects
  • Ensuring successful project delivery through effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Maintaining and enhancing client relationships through exceptional communication skills


Job Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering and relevant Chartership.
  • Ability to lead a technical team and manage project delivery from concept to completion
  • Strong technical skills in designing geotechnical structures
  • Experience in specific technical areas such as offshore design, railway projects, and ground improvement
  • Understanding of engineering geology and geo-environmental skills is beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and multidisciplinary team environment
