One of the country's longest-established independent health and safety consultancies is looking for a principal designer to join their rapidly growing team.

They specialise in providing comprehensive health and safety services, including Principal Designer roles under the Building Safety Act, CDM 2015 Regulations, and a broad range of consultancy services. Some of their clients range across sectors such as health, retail, education and energy.

The Principal Designer Role

  • The successful Principal Designer will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with the new Building Safety Act (2022) across various construction projects.
  • Acting as the Principal Designer, providing expert guidance on safety regulations throughout the design and construction phases.
  • Ensuring all projects comply with the latest safety standards and regulations under the Building Safety Act.
  • Collaborating with clients, architects, and contractors to identify and mitigate design risks.
  • Preparing and reviewing essential safety documentation, including safety case reports and building safety certificates.
  • Conducting regular site inspections and safety audits to ensure continuous compliance and improvement.
  • This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, from residential high-rises to large commercial developments, within a reputable and supportive consultancy.

The ideal Principal Designer will have

  • Extensive experience in Principal Designer roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Building Safety Act and related safety regulations.
  • A background in construction, engineering, or architecture.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH Construction Certificate, APS membership, or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented, and client-focused approach.
