Madisons Recruitment are recruiting for a Building Surveyor on a permanent basis for a client of ours located in Leeds.

As a Building Surveyor, you will play a key role in delivering expert surveying services to our clients, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, within budget, and to the highest standards. You will be involved in a diverse range of projects, from property assessments to refurbishment and redevelopment schemes, working closely with clients, contractors, and our in-house project management team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed building surveys, inspections, and assessments, providing professional reports and recommendations.
  • Advise on building defects, structural integrity, and remedial works.
  • Manage refurbishment, renovation, and fit-out projects from inception to completion.
  • Prepare specifications, schedules of work, and tender documentation.
  • Oversee contract administration and ensure compliance with building regulations and health & safety standards.
  • Provide expert advice on property maintenance, dilapidations, and reinstatement costs.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and condition assessments for new and existing developments.

Requirements

  • Degree in Building Surveying or a related field.
  • MRICS accreditation (or working towards chartered status).
  • Proven experience in building surveying, ideally within a consultancy environment.
  • Strong knowledge of building pathology, construction methods, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent project management and client-facing skills.
  • Proficiency in report writing and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a small, dynamic team.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel across the region.
