Purpose of the position: To provide effective and compliant ownership over the end to end technical bid submissions to both new and existing clients. Your role will play a key part in winning new projects with customers, with will ultimately help the business to increase revenue and grow.

Our Client is a £75M turnover business. They have over 1,500+ colleagues across the UK, and grow heavily through business acquisitions. Last year, they acquired their biggest competitor which has virtually doubled the size of their operation.

About this role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our clients' commercial team for a bid writer. This is a brand new role, and an excellent opportunity for a wordsmith who'd love to work on highly complex bids and tenders across both the Public & Private sector.

The main objective of this role is to respond to customer requirements with captivating, clear and concise Bids and Tenders, which details exactly what our Client can offer to their customers. You’ll work with colleagues in different departments to gather key information to be able to write tenders, and use your creativity to put together bid/tenders which customers cannot refuse!

Some of your day-to-day tasks will include the below:

  • Own the compilation of content and completion of PQQs and tender documents
  • Research more about customers you are writing bid/tenders for to really grasp how your service will benefit them
  • Analyse client tender documents, extracting key information and building responses
  • Utilise tools like SharePoint to access, edit and recycle content from previous bids/tender docs
  • Continually monitor the Portal for new opportunities/requests for information
  • Oversee the end-to-end tender process with other colleagues in the Commercial team, as well as Bid Manager
  • Work with teams such as Marketing for content writing
  • Seek feedback from customers, and take the feedback to better improve future Bids/Tenders
  • Keep on top of the Win/Loss ratio for all tenders produced, and work with key stakeholders to improve ratio long-term

What are we looking for?

  • 2/3 years’ experience in Bid Writing
  • Highly organised, attention-to-detail character with the ability to not let errors slip through
  • First class communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Willingness to learn, and not always be taught! (Proactive research, self-study etc)
  • Confident with tools like MS Word, SharePoint, Outlook etc
