Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to join our team. This is a key leadership role within a well-established construction contractor, offering the opportunity to oversee and manage financial aspects of multiple high-profile projects across the North West and Midlands. The successful candidate will ensure project profitability, cost control, and contractual compliance while supporting the growth and success of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the commercial function across multiple projects, ensuring financial control and cost management.
Develop, implement, and manage commercial strategies to maximize project profitability.
Oversee project budgets, cash flow forecasting, and cost reporting.
Manage subcontract procurement, negotiation, and final accounts.
Provide commercial advice and support to project teams, ensuring contract compliance.
Identify and manage commercial risks, including variations and claims.
Work closely with senior management, clients, and key stakeholders to maintain strong relationships.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant contractual frameworks (e.g., JCT, NEC).
Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors and commercial staff within the team.
Requirements:
Extensive experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within the construction industry.
Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of construction contracts and procurement processes.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver profitable outcomes.
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership and team management experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant commercial software.
Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
