Regional Public Affairs & PR Manager - Midlands and Eastern

Working for a professional membership organisation as the Regional Public Affairs & PR Manager you promote the policy agenda to rail / transport industry and political stakeholders across the Midlands, the Eastern region and the North of England. Drive and support regional PR in these areas. The role is based at our Leeds office and requires close collaboration and co-ordination within a dynamic team between Leeds and London.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- You’ll engage with stakeholders on a daily basis including MPs, local councillors, Metro Mayors, as well members, businesses and industry groups
- Work in collaboration with the Business Engagement Managers (BEMs) you’ll create engaging
- content and initiatives to build and develop regional relationships across multiple channels, alongside our existing PA and PR work.
- You will be horizon scanning for new opportunities to engage and proactively providing advice and regional intelligence internally and to external stakeholders.
- You will work with the Public Affairs and Public Relations team building stakeholder campaigns and networks to support Public Affairs and policy objectives.
- You will work with PA&PR and Policy functions to identify opportunities to promote the work of the association across our core stakeholders and support their work with local and combined authorities and devolved administrations.
Skills and experience required:
- Experience in public affairs and / or external affairs and an excellent understanding of the political landscape, processes and interfaces across the English regions
- Strong verbal and written skills, as you’ll be responsible for briefing and accompanying senior leaders to stakeholder meetings, or be tasked with representing at events, conferences and/or public meetings.
- Ability to translate detailed and technical information into simple and clear communications, and to drive digital communication strategies, such as social media and blog posts.
- Excellent networker, who can build connections for the benefit of the organisation
- A passion for the regions you’d be representing.
- Knowledge of transport, infrastructure and rail an advantage
