My client a long established and highly successful civil engineering contractor specialising in railway engineering is looking for a Contracts Manager to join their work winning team on a permanent basis.
As a primary contractor for Network Rail my client delivers a wide range of projects from earthworks and embankment-stabilisation schemes to major structural projects such as footbridge replacements and bridge refurbishments.

Candidate Responsibilities:
- Operational Management: Oversee the buildings Management Framework for Network Rail, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Client Liaison: Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Programme and Commercial Planning: Strong understanding of NEC3/NEC4 contracts, particularly regarding compensation events and risk management. Commercially astute, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost management.
- Project Controls: Monitor project performance against budgets, handle scope change identification, and ensure timely change orders and early warning notifications.
- Reporting and Analysis: Produce and analyse progress reports, updated cost forecasts, and lead monthly review meetings with project teams.
- Risk Management: Implement a comprehensive risk management process to pre-emptively identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Safety Management: Be accountable for all safety, health, environment, and quality matters within the framework, maintaining knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to the rail industry.
Candidate Requirements:
- Relevant engineering or commercial qualification (e.g. BSc Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or NVQ 6/7 in
- Construction minimum or suitably qualified by experience.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to the rail industry.
- Strong understanding of NEC3/NEC4 contracts, particularly regarding compensation events and riskmanagement. Commercially astute, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost management.
- Proven experience managing framework contracts within rail, infrastructure, or buildings asset management.
- Experience overseeing both reactive maintenance and project works in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working on Network Rail Frameworks
