A forward-thinking, medium-sized construction consultancy is seeking a highly skilled Principal Designer with expertise in the Building Safety Act 2022 regulations to join their team in Leeds. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of projects while ensuring compliance with the latest safety standards.

The Principal Designer Role

As a Principal Designer, you will be at the forefront of managing and coordinating health and safety during the design and pre-construction phases, with a particular focus on the new Building Safety Act 2022 regulations. Your role will involve working closely with clients, designers, and contractors to ensure that all design and construction work adheres to these crucial safety standards.

The successful Principal Designer will be responsible for identifying and mitigating risks in the design process, ensuring that all stakeholders comply with their duties under the Building Safety Act 2022. You will provide expert advice, manage safety reviews, and oversee the production of safety-critical documentation.

The Principal Designer

  • Comprehensive understanding and experience in implementing the regulations of the Building Safety Act 2022, particularly in the context of high-rise and complex buildings.
  • Proven experience in the construction industry, with a strong foundation in design or architectural roles.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent is essential; additional qualifications related to the Building Safety Act 2022 are highly desirable.
  • Significant experience in the role of Principal Designer under CDM regulations, with a focus on managing safety in design.
  • Ability to effectively manage client relationships, lead design teams, and communicate safety requirements clearly and professionally.
