Court Usher- Ministry of Justice

Job Type: Assignment runs until 31st March with possible extension

Hours: Monday - Friday (37 hours a week)
Duties include:
Strong communication skills, the ability to deal with stressed people in difficult situations, calmness under pressure and a clear voice.
- Preparing the courtroom and administrative duties.
- Meeting and greeting court users and visitors, as well as keeping people informed of changes to hearing times and maintaining order in public areas of the courtroom.
- Check to ensure that the required witnesses, defendants and barristers are present.
- Other duties include escorting the jury to and from the courtroom, being on duty outside the jury room as the jury deliberates, taking messages between the jury and the judge.
