We Are TransUnion:

TransUnion is a major credit reference agency, and we offer specialist services in fraud, identity and risk management, automated decisioning and demographics. We support organisations across a variety of sectors including finance, retail, telecommunications, utilities, gaming, government and insurance.

We’re looking for a Senior Counsel to join our growing team.

Day To Day You’ll Be:

  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on national and international commercial contracts, specifically those relating to TransUnion clients
  • Creation and negotiation of contracts of various types as described above.
  • Management of caseload via case management system
  • Managing escalations to Legal Manager (Client Transactions) and Head of Legal (Commercial Transactions and Legal Operations) as appropriate
  • Assisting on ad hoc queries
  • Liaising with the UK Legal team’s Product and Regulatory Lawyers
  • Assisting UK Legal Operations team with respect to automation of contract production
  • Attendance at internal meetings with respect to contract opportunities.
  • Attendance at UK Legal team meetings
  • Creating and maintaining a knowledge management system in tandem with other team members
  • Creating and updating legal documentation (including contract templates and playbooks) in tandem with other team members
  • Providing training and support to the business in respect of contracting basics (in terms of legal principles, risk management practices and contract fulfilment request procedures)
  • Liaising with stakeholders in other TransUnion businesses globally, specifically those located within Europe

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Licensed legal practitioner
  • 4 years post qualification experience, ideally with some from within an in house environment
  • Experience of working in or advising the legal function of an information services company and/or regulated financial services business
  • Experience of working in a direct to consumer business would be a benefit
  • Detailed understanding of commercial law and contract negotiation
  • Capability and experience of working collaboratively in a fast-paced, highly commercial environment

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Being able to offer commercial as well as legal advice based on commercial experience, while at the same time keeping within TransUnion’s policy and procedure framework
  • Having advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Word including being able to produce correspondence and complicated documents in a timely manner
  • Having understanding and competency skills in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint in order to produce reports in a timely manner.
  • Diligent and proficient in the use of legal case management system
