As an Asset Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and availability of the client's fleet of thermal generation and gas storage assets in order to maximise operational and commercial opportunities efficiently and safely in line with our Thermal Asset Management policy and Strategic objectives.

You will be working directly with the Reliability Manager, and collaboratively with asset engineers across the operational sites and technical disciplines within TEAM to deliver on availability-on- demand of our thermal plants. You will achieve this by focusing on key asset performance indicators and implementing solutions for asset information and data systems, maintenance process review, asset criticality, equipment reliability analysis, critical maintenance task identification, spares optimisation and digital asset management; in addition to supporting the implementation of various reliability-driven initiatives across the business. You will also be required to support both our Low Carbon Project engineering and the wider Asset Management teams with technical design input for new assets, and on AM business priority activities respectively as a Suitably Qualified Experienced Personnel (SQEP).

Responsibilities:

  • Utilise analytic tools and processes including asset criticality analysis, failure mode and effect analysis and Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) analysis to deliver on our thermal assets lifecycle operational performance and asset integrity.
  • Track, analyse and report on asset reliability key performance indicators and support the development of asset performance benchmarks using digital tools, dashboards and applications.
  • Support the review and update of thermal asset management strategies, maintenance plans, critical spares and procedures to assure on our asset integrity standards. Head of Asset Management, Thermal Reliability Manager and Thermal Asset Reliability Engineer
  • Provide technical support to operational and maintenance site-based teams on failure analysis, maintenance optimisation solutions and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in creating asset reliability requirements for design and development of new assets.



Business Knowledge:

  • Demonstrable experience or good understanding of Lifecycle Asset Management and Reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) concepts and principles preferably in a power generation-related industry.
  • Good knowledge of a diverse range of asset management systems and technologies, asset classes, plant and equipment in the power generation/gas storage industry.


Essential Functional & Technical Skills:

  • A degree level qualification or equivalent, preferably in an engineering/reliability discipline, or similar.
  • Knowledge of best engineering practices, relevant codes, standards and legislation.
  • A solid understanding of reliability analysis techniques applicable to mechanical, electrical, process plants and processes.
  • An understanding of, and preferably a working knowledge of continuous improvement techniques including fault tree analysis, FMECA, criticality analysis, failure reporting and corrective action systems.
  • It would also be advantageous to be working towards, or hold, a professional chartered status and/or certification in Reliability engineering (or another engineering-related discipline).

  • Critical thinker and Problem solver: ability to identify and analyse problems with systems and processes, understand risk and implement optimal solutions for users in the business.
  • Technical aptitude: an understanding of the systems, equipment, and processes in use. This includes knowledge of the engineering principles and specific systems in a power generating site.
  • Communication skills: it is essential that the role holder has effective verbal and written communication skills as it is necessary for influencing, engaging, and facilitating workgroups, as well as in managing interfaces with site Ops/maintenance teams, multi-disciplinary teams and management.
  • Collaborative skills: due to requirement that they work with cross-functional teams (particularly site-based asset teams), it is vital that they can work with people with various backgrounds.
  • A continuous improvement mindset: ability to identify and continuously explore ways to improve on asset reliability and processes.
  • Resilient: follow and pursue information related to reliability in order to identify key gaps or opportunities for performance improvement.
