Are you a passionate and dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant looking to join a vibrant and nurturing independent primary school? We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring individual to support our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team in providing an outstanding learning environment for our youngest pupils.

About the Role:

As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the class teacher in delivering high-quality education and care for children aged 3-5 years. You will work closely with pupils, parents, and staff to ensure a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the planning and delivery of engaging and age-appropriate activities that align with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

  • Assist in setting up and maintaining a welcoming, safe, and stimulating classroom environment.

  • Work with small groups and individual children to provide tailored support, ensuring all pupils reach their full potential.

  • Encourage children's social, emotional, and physical development through play-based learning and structured activities.

  • Support children with additional needs, ensuring inclusivity and personalised learning approaches.

  • Observe and assess children's progress, contributing to learning journals and reports.

  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers, providing updates on children's progress and development.

  • Ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are followed to maintain a safe learning environment.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years Education, or an equivalent qualification.

  • Previous experience working in an Early Years setting, ideally within a school or nursery environment.

  • A strong understanding of the EYFS framework and child development principles.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a warm and nurturing approach.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and use initiative when required.

  • A passion for working with young children and supporting their early learning journey.

Desirable:

  • Paediatric First Aid qualification.

  • Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN).

  • Knowledge of phonics teaching and early literacy strategies.

  • Familiarity with assessment tools such as Tapestry or similar.
