SEMH Teaching Assistant

We are seeking full-time SEMH Teaching Assistants to work with students across Key Stages 2, 3, and 4 in the LS10 area. This role involves supporting children with additional learning and behavioural needs. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

This school, located in the Leeds LS10 area, is dedicated to supporting young people with SEMH challenges. The school fosters an inclusive, nurturing environment where every student is given the opportunity to succeed academically and socially. The dedicated staff work together to create a community where emotional well-being and personal growth are prioritised.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provide focused support to students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
• Work 1:1 or in small groups to deliver tailored interventions, ensuring students are engaged in both academic and emotional development.
• Assist the classroom teacher in managing behaviour and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Offer emotional and behavioural support, helping students to regulate and develop positive coping strategies.
• Monitor student progress and contribute to individual education plans (IEPs).

Requirements:

• Experience working with children or young people who have social, emotional, and mental health needs.
• A minimum of Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of SEMH and the ability to implement strategies to support students.
• Patience, resilience, and the ability to build strong relationships with vulnerable learners.
• Eligible to work in the UK (No Sponsorship).
• A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
