Job Title: Student Services Advisor Location: West Yorkshire Contract: Temporary - Full Time Salary: £18 - £22 per hour Ede Brown are looking for a motivated and empathetic Student Services Advisor for a Further Education College in West Yorkshire. This is a full time temporary role to start asap for 1 months cover initially The Role: As a Student Services Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for students seeking advice and guidance on a wide range of issues, from academic support to personal and wellbeing concerns. You will play a vital role in enhancing the student experience by offering professional and compassionate advice, signposting to relevant services, and helping students navigate their time at college successfully. Key Responsibilities: - Provide one-to-one advice and guidance to students on a variety of topics, including admissions, financial support, accommodation, health and wellbeing, and course queries. - Assist students with applications for bursaries, loans, and other forms of financial support. - Signpost students to specialist support services where needed, including counselling, mental health services, and academic support. - Support the enrolment, induction, and orientation processes, ensuring that all students have a smooth transition into college life. - Assist in planning and delivering student events and workshops on topics such as wellbeing, career advice, and study skills. - Maintain accurate records of student interactions and provide reports on student service usage. - Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Student Services department by suggesting new initiatives and enhancing existing processes. - Work closely with academic staff and other departments to ensure students receive a holistic level of support. About You: To be successful in this role, you will be approachable, compassionate, and capable of managing a varied workload. You should have a passion for supporting young people and an understanding of the challenges that students in further education may face. Essential Skills and Experience: - Experience in a student-facing or advisory role, preferably within education, support services, or a customer service environment. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students from a wide range of backgrounds. - Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. - An understanding of issues related to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and equality and diversity. - Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office and student management systems. Desirable: - Knowledge of further education systems, processes, and policies. - Experience working with young adults or vulnerable individuals. - A relevant qualification in advice and guidance, education, or counselling.
