Axon Moore are engaged on a search for a Director of Finance for a large scale and successful private equity backed retail / ecommerce client in the West Yorkshire region.This is a high profile role within the organisation, with close interaction with the Group CFO, the board and senior leaders within the business.Due to the ambitions of the business, there are significant progression opportunities for this individual, and they will play a key role in driving growth and adding value to the overall business and their profitability.They will also lead a large team, so leadership experience will be key in this appointment.Key responsibilities of this role will include:

Reporting into an excellent Group CFO, leading, mentoring, and developing the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture
Providing strategic financial guidance to the Group CFO and senior management, aligning financial plans with the company’s goals for growth, profitability, and market expansion
Acting as a trusted advisor to key business functions (e.g., operations, commercial, and logistics) to ensuring finance are integrated into decision-making processes, helping teams achieve operational efficiency and financial success
Managing cash flow, liquidity, and working capital, ensuring the business maintains sufficient cash reserves for operational needs and growth opportunities
Leading the financial forecasting and budgeting process, ensuring a robust approach to predicting financial performance
Manipulating data to model future performance, identify trends, and anticipating challenges in a rapidly changing e-commerce environment
Overseeing and leading the preparation of accurate and timely consolidated statutory accounts

The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following skills and experience:

Qualified Finance Leader, with experience in a financial leadership role in a similar industry, such as retail, ecommerce, distribution, logistics etc
Strong commercial finance mindset and experience, backed up by rigorous controls and technical accounting experience
Able to balance delegation with a hands on approach
Able to challenge senior stakeholders effectively, possessing the gravitas and emotional intelligence to influence and support
