Are you a dynamic and qualified upcoming Finance Director ready to take the lead in a high-growth, fast-paced environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join an SME, Private Equity-backed e-commerce business based in North Leeds as Finance Director.

The Role:

As the Finance Director, you'll play a critical role in driving the financial strategy and performance of the business. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll take ownership of all aspects of finance, providing strategic insights and leadership to support ambitious growth plans. Backed by a leading Private Equity firm, this is a unique opportunity to shape the financial direction of a high-potential business. Leading a small but capable team, you'll ensure the finance function operates effectively, delivering robust financial control and commercially focused analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full responsibility for the finance function, including financial strategy, planning, and reporting.
  • Acting as a strategic partner to the CEO, shaping the company's financial direction.
  • Ensuring strong financial controls, compliance, and risk management across the business.
  • Leading and mentoring a small finance team, fostering high performance and development.
  • Preparing and presenting detailed management accounts and financial reports to the board.
  • Managing the end-of-year audit process and maintaining a strong relationship with external auditors.
  • Partnering with operational and commercial teams to drive profitability and efficiency.
  • Overseeing cash flow management and supporting the execution of growth initiatives.
  • Collaborating with the Private Equity stakeholders, delivering clear and timely financial insights to support strategic decision-making.

About You:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven experience in a leadership role.
  • A background in fast-paced environments, ideally within e-commerce or a similar sector.
  • Experience working within a Private Equity-backed business is a strong advantage.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, comfortable working at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, able to challenge and support senior stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset and a track record of driving improvements and delivering results.
