Connected Seaerch Group is proud to be leading an exclusive search to hire a Finance Manager to be based in the Sheffield / Barnsley area.

Our client is part of a successful group of family run businesses that operate within the building and construction industry. The company has been hugely successful in recent years and is on course to turnover 11m this year, with a projection of 20m in their next financial year. This anticipated growth will be generated from numerous projects and tenders that are at an advanced stage, which will be accounted for in the next financial year.

The Finance Manager position is a newly created position to help support the growth of an ambitious and fast-paced business. Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with both the Commercial Manager and Construction Manager as part of a tight knit team, the successful candidate will ideally have experience working in the Construction Industry and ideally have knowledge of VAT requirements and the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), along with implementing financial processes and controls to ensure the financial operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle the preparation and submission of VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded, and discrepancies are promptly investigated and resolved.
  • Manage the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee all subcontractor accounts, and process all subcontractor invoices and payments.
  • CIS Management: Oversee and manage all aspects of CIS compliance, including verifying subcontractors and submitting monthly returns.

Furter Information

  • Proven experience as a Finance/Accounts Manager
  • Professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred or Qualified by Experience.
  • Ideally, have knowledge of VAT requirements and the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
  • Strong proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
