We are thrilled to announce an incredible opportunity for a Lead Manager - Financial Modelling (Asset & Liability Management) to join our team in Financial Modelling.

In this role, you will lead the review and redevelopment of Asset and Liability Management (ALM) models to meet the requirements of the ALM team and the internal governance processes, while supporting the team with their wider deliverables. This is an exciting time to join the team, as the Society embarks on an ambitious growth plan, Financial Modelling will be at the heart of enabling that growth through transforming the modelling landscape.

This is a hybrid role; remote working and a small amount of onsite presence in our central Leeds office.

About the role

As an ALM modelling subject matter expert, you will ultimately be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the key ALM models and processes which are used by the Society. You will 

  • Embed the ALM Model suite into the Society's model and data landscape

     

  • Design, develop and deliver model changes and redevelopments as required to meet the ALM modelling requirements

     

  • Ensure robust controls and comprehensive documentation exists and meet all internal policies and standards

     

  • Work with the ALM team to support appropriate model use and understanding of controls, while ensuring they deliver appropriate requirements for model build

     

  • Collaborate with other members of the team to ensure developments fit within the established model and data landscape and support on wider team developments

     

  • Each of these areas will involve working closely with other teams within Finance so developing and maintaining this engagement will be an important aspect of the role

     

 

About you

What will you bring to the role?

  • Proven experience working with ALM models within financial services and forecasting the balance sheet

     

  • Experience of data manipulation and modelling using SQL and Excel

     

  • Strong communication, engagement and influencing skills - demonstrating the ability to engage at senior level (up to executive level)

     

  • Strong thought leadership experience in terms of owning the delivery of projects, managing competing priorities and coaching more junior members of the team

     

  • People leadership experience

     

  • Good understanding of how financial products perform, particularly mortgages, savings and treasury instruments (including interest rate swaps and managing interest rate risk)

     

 

Desirable skills

  • Experience of using Python, VBA or other forecasting software

     

  • Knowledge of balance sheet risk metrics and how to model these

     

  • Broader knowledge of financial services and the building society business model

     

  • Experience/ knowledge in statistical modelling (for example, logistic regression)
