Our client is an independent charity offering emotional and practical support to those facing homelessness across Leeds and Bradford for 25  years. Their mission is to provide hope to those without a voice to those at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness.

The Role

As a Community Fundraiser, you will work to maximise income from existing community partnerships while proactively seeking new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To initiate, build and manage relationships with community supporters to maximise and sustain income, providing the highest standards of donor care service throughout. 
  • To process enquiries from community supporters and groups effectively and efficiently, whilst maintaining excellent levels of donor stewardship.
  • Increase income generated from individual giving against agreed targets.
  • To research, approach and source new support from community groups (including schools, universities, faith groups, clubs, pubs, groups, and individuals).
  • Develop and deliver compelling fundraising activities for these groups to participate in and follow up approaches on the phone and face to face to maximise income.
  • Delivering presentations to a range of community groups/schools/universities, etc.
  • To work with the Marketing and Communications Officer and Outreach team, in addition to external partners to develop the profile of all Community Fundraising activities through targeted marketing campaigns.
  • Organise and attend supermarkets and community festivals to engage the community and raise the profile of SOTS.
  • To appropriately manage the placement, maintenance and income from their static collection boxes according to UK legislation and and procedures.
  • To develop and support a team of community volunteers and coordinate fundraising activities

The Ideal Candidate:

They are looking for a passionate and driven individual who can inspire and engage with the community. Demonstrable experience and success in a fundraising role. About you:

  • Full Driving License and access to a car
  • A strategic thinker able to create opportunities for engagement and income generation
  • Demonstrable experience in creating and nurturing profitable and successful relationships
  • Inspiring, engaging and persuasive communication skills – the ability to bring to life the stories of service users and to use these to inspire others
  • Demonstrable experience of working to and meeting targets and an ability to interpret income and expenditure budgets and financial information
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Impeccable time management skills with proven experience in prioritising, working under pressure and to deadlines
  • Knowledge of the Leeds / Bradford / areas
  • Experienced in using CRM to record information
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning
  • Motivated to help effect change for others
  • Able to juggle multiple priorities
  • Confident to try new things, prepared to fail, and willing to learn
  • Self-aware, able to give and receive valuable and constructive feedback
  • Team player – subscribes to one team approach, positive and respectful
  • Confident, friendly and approachable attitude and manner
  • A pro-active self-starter able to work on their own initiative with an engaging and inspiring can-do attitude
  • Ability to work some out of hours when needed 

Desirable:

  • Demonstrable experience and success in a fundraising role
  • Experience of working in the charity sector
  • A strong track record of identifying, winning, building and delivering successful fundraising partnerships
  • Experienced in design and implementation of effective supporter journeys and a track record of delivering exceptional supporter service
  • Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers
  • Fundraising Qualification and understanding of the theory behind fundraising
  • Understanding of different fundraising income streams
  • Understanding of the UK charity sector
  • Experience in leading planning, income and risk management
