Are you an Internal Auditor who wants to join an exciting new public authority with the opportunity to make a mark and ensure that it delivers its mandate to the people of the region?

Do you want to be key stakeholder of a newly set up public authority in West Yorkshire, be a leader in the development, implementation and oversight of internal controls and risk management across a wide range of services and projects?

On offer is an opportunity to join a local public authority with newly granted authority from central government to oversee and implement its own projects and have control to ensure that the exciting new projects are delivered on time and to budget for the people of West Yorkshire.

In this role you will lead and manage the internal auditors and external auditors, manage stakeholder relationships across the authority, lead approach for Strategic Internal Audit Plans, manage risks across audits, contribute to best practice and ensure yearly plans are adhered to and delivered within the strategic framework.

The ideal candidate lives commutable distance to Leeds, is CCAB or CMIIA qualified, has an understanding of PSIAS, audit techniques, understanding of risk management and governance processes in local government, team management, stakeholder engagement, working with CAATS, and people management and wants to give back to the community ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget.

The Role:

  • Develop, lead and oversee public internal audit programs
  • Manage team internal and external auditors
  • Manage stakeholders and influence management on implementation of new processes
  • Minimise risks across various projects through robust audit processes are implemented and adhered to.

The Person:

  • CCAB or CMIIA Qualified or relevant audit experience
  • Government risk management and governance processes and relevant legislation knowledge
  • People management and stakeholder influence
  • Based near Leeds and can commute to different authorities
  • Must have full right to work in the UK
