Editorial Lead

Leeds, (just outside centre) - MUST live within a commutable distance

Salary: £24,500-£27,500 pa depending on experience + Benefits

Full time (Monday-Friday), Permanent, June 2025

This is a full-time position, and the applicant must be willing to work from our offices and remotely. Must be within easy travel to Leeds.

We have been providing design and print services since 2006 including producing 3 vibrant magazines each 6 times per year. With a flair for great design and content, the company provides a specialist service for many readers and clients.

We are now on the lookout for an Editorial Lead to join our fantastic team working on our magazines in the local lifestyle and corporate events industry.

Duties include:

  • Generating engaging written content and lead editing and proofreading process to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough research on assigned topics to gather information and insights for content development for future editions, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Collaborate with, and lead, the editorial assistant through daily catch ups and weekly meetings develop story ideas, angles, and themes that resonate with the target audiences.
  • Organise and maintain a content calendar to ensure timely delivery of editorial materials, managing deadlines and priorities effectively.
  • Checking to identify and rectify any errors or discrepancies before final production, maintaining a high standard of quality and detail.
  • Work closely with clients, designers, printers, and other team members to ensure seamless coordination and integration of written content with visual elements.
  • Adapt to changing priorities, tight deadlines, and evolving project requirements with a positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Regularly contact community contributors with deadline information and chase booked clients and contributors to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Manage an editorial assistant with workload, a help develop the skills and development and ensure that productivity and quality levels are being met.
  • Compile organisational tasks for the department and weekly reports to director on all aspects of the role.
  • Co-ordinating with the online team on the competition data and prizes.

Requirements:

  • Experience in magazine writing is advantageous but mostly be able to demonstrate some successful experience as a creative, trained and structured skilful writer at speed in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to write interesting and creative structured pieces across lifestyle, community and client promotions.
  • Experience in managing staff is advantageous.
  • Incredible organisational skills and ability to adapt and juggle many tasks.
  • Exceptional teamwork and communications skills with clients and colleagues with ability to manage up and down.
  • Inspirational and creative mentality.
  • An all-rounder with initiative and attention to detail.
  • Some relevant workplace experience and suitable qualifications such as English and Journalism.
  • Knowledge of basic media law and ethics.
