Veritas Education is looking to appoint an experienced 121 Teaching Assistant with a background in additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, Asperger's and Down Syndrome to work at a primary school based in LS14. We are searching for people who are hard-working, passionate, and resilient to start this exciting new career and to help support children and young people in their educational journey. Individuals with little to no experience are encouraged to apply as additional training can be offered to support you. This will be a full time permanent role to start as soon as possible.

Role

  • Working closely with small groups of learners in a classroom setting, supporting them with their work and breaking down the barriers to learning.
  • Working closely with the class teacher to maintain and control pupil behaviour throughout the lesson, if needed enforcing the behaviour policies of the school.
  • Communicate with the SENCO/Behaviour managers regarding pupils' behaviour throughout the day and contributing to any serious incidents (Team Teach can be offered to support this)
  • Ensuring students remain on task, work is completed and logging pupils progress and engagement.

Ideal candidate

  • Experience working with children with additional needs is desirable but not a necessity
  • At least 2 references from previous educational employment
  • The ability to take initiative and adapt to different situations
  • Great behaviour management skills
  • Enthusiastic and encouraging in all aspects of a child's learning development
  • Excellent communication skills

  • DBS check or willing to apply once registering with us
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Additional training is desirable but not essential
