Packaging Artworker (10 Month Contract)

Our retail client is currently recruiting a Packaging Artworker to join their design team at their Leeds office. This is a full-time, 10 month fixed term contract, based onsite in Leeds.

As a Packaging Artworker, the successful candidate will provide functional design support for all packaging requirements, supporting our client’s extensive range of new and existing product ranges. Working across a whole range of different packaging projects, the Packaging Artworker will need to be comfortable, adapting their skills across a variety of product categories including Cleaning, DIY, Party, Pet, Health & Beauty, Food and more.

The role requires an ability to prioritise your workload effectively, and manage your time to ensure work is completed to agreed deadlines. The successful candidate will be organised, have a keen eye for detail, be proactive and comfortable liaising with all areas of the department to ensure packaging layout and information is as required.

Packaging Artworker - Key Responsibilities

On a daily basis, the Artworker will work alongside the Design Manager in a role that will involve creating artwork for a whole host of packaging ranges. Projects will include:

  • Adapting existing packaging designs to fit new products.
  • Amending existing packaging to suit new packaging formats.
  • Applying pack copy to designs and amending copy on existing designs.
  • Generating barcode labels.
  • Ensuring all files are organised and stored correctly.
  • Checking digital proofs prior to production and physical proofs during production.
  • Tracking artwork approvals from the wider team.
  • Liaising with category buyers for packaging feedback.
  • Creating digital and physical packaging mock-ups.
  • Product photography and image editing.

Packaging Artworker - Requirements

  • Technically, be confident in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Have an understanding of the requirements of packaging design or branding.
  • Ideally have a degree or higher qualification in graphic design, or equivalent.
  • Be a skilled and experienced Artworker, packaging experience highly desirable.
  • Ideally, providing a portfolio to showcase your artwork.
