The Leeds office of this very successful insurance company seeks an Underwriting Assistant to support its senior underwriting staff with the servicing of existing clients, as well as the growth of its portfolio.

This position has arisen as a result of an internal promotion, which is a regular occurrence within this growing organisation.

Our client provides insurance for some fascinating risks, and distributes its business via a number of channels, including insurance brokers, well-known price comparison sites and high-profile trade associations.

Your duties will include, but certainly not be limited to, calculating premiums to ensure the continued profitability and competitiveness of accounts, reviewing renewals, analysing data and trends, dealing with broker enquiries, and managing relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

It is essential that you are detail-orientated with good numeracy skills, and comfortable with using Microsoft Excel. Some previous experience in the insurance industry is required, although you do not need to have previous underwriting experience. We will consider talented candidates from broking, claims or underwriting, who are keen to enhance their professional development within a top firm. Just as importantly, you’ll be personable and engaging, with the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people.

One of the major selling points of this opportunity is that you will be working with, and learning directly from, some of the most talented and gifted Underwriters within this field of insurance, and therefore you can expect your technical knowledge to develop quickly within this firm.
