About the Role:My client, a prominent environmental consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality services across a range of sectors, is seeking an experienced Principal Town Planner to join their team in Leeds. The company has a diverse portfolio of clients and projects, focusing on creating sustainable, innovative solutions in urban planning and development. This role offers the opportunity to take a lead on complex, high-profile planning projects, providing strategic advice and overseeing the successful delivery of planning applications and development strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage multiple, complex town planning projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Provide high-level strategic advice on planning policy, land use, and development opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications, development frameworks, and masterplans.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities to drive projects forward.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, fostering their professional development.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site appraisals, and planning assessments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of planning policy, legislation, and best practice.
  • Contribute to business development and support in winning new projects.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Town Planning or a related field.
  • MRTPI (Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute) status is essential.
  • Significant experience in town planning, with a proven track record in managing large and complex projects.
  • Deep understanding of planning legislation, policy, and the development process.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with experience managing teams.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
