We are recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturer in Sheffield for a Production Engineer. The company are known for their innovative solutions and commitment to quality. Currently seeking a talented and dedicated Production Engineer to join their dynamic team and help them continue our tradition of excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Production Engineer

  • Execute tasks as directed by the Lead Production Engineer.
  • Proficient in CAD-CAM, Vericut with SolidWorks drafting skills to produce and amend engineering drawings in accordance with current standards.
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Perform statistical data analysis using Minitab.
  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) for problem-solving.
  • Develop work instructions, costings, routings, BOMs, SOPs, and conduct implementation and training for online staff.
  • Manage projects, create Gantt charts, and provide accurate project timelines.
  • Collaborate with Process & CI Engineers to specify, commission, and validate capital equipment.
  • Analyse factory flow to optimize the use of personnel and equipment.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies, machinery, software, cutting tools, materials, and processes.
  • Minimise process setup times and design jigs, fixtures, and special tooling.

Skills and Competencies Required for the Production Engineer

  • Degree, HND, or HNC in an Engineering discipline.
  • Proficient team player who collaborates effectively with others.
  • Knowledge and experience in Lean/continuous improvement.
  • Methodical thinker with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning skills, with the ability to manage activities and projects in advance, considering changing circumstances.
  • Effective time management.
  • Monitors personal performance against deadlines and milestones.
  • Strong communication skills.

  • Salary: £42,000/ annum   
  • Hours: 37.5 hrs (plus 4 x 30-minute unpaid refs breaks) and a 12.30pm finish on Fridays
  • Annual leave 25 + Bank Holidays
